Great Hope
Hebrews
6:11 - "And we
desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence
to the full assurance of hope unto the end"
The Corona Virus pandemic has
caused much of the world to be placed on lock-down. Because of that, many people live in fear and
anxiety. Many of the world’s economies
are doing very poorly. In America, crores
of people have lost their jobs. We don’t
know how this situation is going to affect our future. So, there is much
uncertainty in the world today. Yet, in
spite of that, if you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you can have hope.
The dictionary definition of hope is a desire for
future good. It is the desire and the
expectation of something good happening in the future. Hope is an essential part of life. We need hope.
When we are filled with fear, we need the hope of God’s presence and
power and promises. When we experience
times of pain or illness, we need the hope that God knows what is happening in
our lives. When we face a difficult
situation for a long time, we need the hope of knowing that God is able to give
the victory in His time. God wants us to
have the full assurance of hope until the end.
Our hope is not in the government or the scientists of the world. Our hope is in our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. There are two reasons why we can
have a great hope even in times like these.
I. First, we can hope because of who we are. We are the people of God. He has created us with His own hands. He has redeemed us with the blood of His
Son. He raised Christ from the grave and
promised that we will follow in the same way.
He is preparing a place for us in His kingdom. We are “heirs of God, and joint-heirs with
Christ.” I Peter 2:9 says “But ye are
a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;
that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness
into his marvelous light:” Revelation 1:5 and 6 says “…Unto him that loved us,
and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and
priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever
and ever. Amen.”
II. Second, we can hope because of who we belong to. The only reason that we can have hope in who
we are is because of who we belong to.
God is the foundation of our existence.
He is the foundation of our hope.
He is our Father and we are His children. He has saved and sanctified us. It is all about Him. We have confidence because our confidence is
in Him. We have hope because we know
that God knows what is happening in our life.
We have courage to face the future because He is in control of all
things. He will overcome all the
problems that we have in our lives. God
will overcome our problems and make us victorious in the
process. We are able to hope because we
are able to trust God.
Conclusion: We can also hope
because we know that we have a wonderful future in heaven. So, when things get difficult and you begin
to worry about what is happening in the world, remember who you are. You are a precious child of God. You belong to Him and He will take care of
you in every situation.
